Cobb engaged in a deep dive conversation about the courageous conversations needed to respond to racism.

Rev. Cobb described her early faith and the impact of her childhood experience of facing racial hatred when she as a black student was bussed to a predominately white school in her hometown of Gary Indiana.

Rev Cobb went on to share her reactions to the killing of George Floyd and how this raised the awareness racial injustice among people beyond people of color.

She is the Executive Directory of  e4potentialliving.org/ which provides resources and services on racial justice training, intercultural competency training designed to engage, equip and empower their clients to engage across racial lines to maximize community transformation.

A key part of the conversation centered around engaging in courageous conversations on all matters racial justice in the community and in the church.  Moreover, the point was made that beyond courageous conversation that the time is at hand for action to be taken to effect policy and practice on matters of racial injustice.

The point was made that in the United Methodist Church we have the all the right words in all the right places in the Bible , The Book of Discipline and The Social Principles to speak to racism, what is needed is the implemention of the words.

The mission of the United Methodist People Podcast is the strengthen the connection in the United Methodist Church through conversation and commentary.
